Frequently Asked Questions

What is My Selah?

My Selah is a personal Christian Scripture, reflection, journaling, and creative devotional workspace for Windows. It provides a quiet personal space to read Scripture, pause and reflect, journal, write Notes, pray, organize meaningful Scripture, and personalize a devotional workspace.

Scripture and optional connected Highlight features use YouVersion, while your personal workspace content is local-first. It’s a space to slow down, spend time with God’s Word, and make your devotional practice your own.

How do YouVersion Highlights work?

When you connect a YouVersion account, My Selah can display your YouVersion Highlights. Supported Highlights can be created, recolored, and removed from within My Selah while remaining connected to YouVersion. These actions update the connected Highlight on YouVersion.

The connected bookmark/link icon identifies a Highlight linked to YouVersion. It helps distinguish that connected Highlight from the personal writing you keep locally in My Selah.

What is a My Selah Reflection?

A Reflection is your personal writing associated with a Highlight: a thought, prayer, or response to the passage. Reflections remain local to My Selah and are not sent to YouVersion, even when the associated Highlight is connected to your YouVersion account.

Why might a Highlight show a different Bible translation?

A Highlight may reference a Bible translation that My Selah is not licensed to display. In that case, My Selah may show the same Scripture reference using an available licensed translation. The verse reference stays the same, but the wording may differ between translations.

Is my personal content stored online?

My Selah follows a local-first model: personal workspace content, including your journal entries, Notes, and Reflections, is kept locally on your device. Connecting YouVersion does not send that personal writing to YouVersion.

Connected features are different from local workspace content. Scripture requests and optional Highlight actions communicate with YouVersion, and provider features you intentionally use can make requests to the relevant provider. Local-first does not mean every feature works without an internet connection.

How can I back up My Selah?

Use My Selah’s backup feature to save a local .selahpack backup file. Keep a copy somewhere safe, such as an external drive or another location you choose, and make a fresh backup regularly as your workspace grows.

A .selahpack is a local backup you manage, rather than automatic online storage. Keep your backup available for use with My Selah’s restore feature.
